I have been to Singapore quite a number of times before for business and pleasure but strangely enough, this is actually the first time I'm staying somewhere different from Clarke Quay and Orchard Road.
With the hotel prices coming down in Singapore, we knew we have a few options available but InterContinental Singapore was initially not on top of that list to be brutally honest. Let's just say I always prefer something a little more contemporary and stylish when it comes to lodging (something like W Hotel, Park Hyatt etc.).
I was here at the lobby lounge a couple of times before and it always gave me a pretty "dated" look that screamed for a major facelift. But then, why are we staying here this time around, you ask?
Well, since we're bringing our nugget along, we thought it would be good that the hotel is directly connected to the MRT, belongs to an international chain and even better if it's on top of a shopping mall too. InterContinental manages to tick all boxes.
I was a bit worried about the rooms coz after all, the hotel was built back in 1995 so very likely, they will be pretty worn out. But to my pleasant surprise, that was not the case at all. As a matter of fact, I was told that they just recently renovated the rooms in 2016 so they looked wonderfully stylish, clean and "fresh".
Although I'm guessing that the renovation didn't cover the bathrooms.
One important criteria for picking this hotel was their outdoor swimming pool, which was the perfect oasis to kick off my morning with my little nugget (at the baby pool of course).
The 5-star InterContinental Singapore was a real pleasant surprise for us. While the heartwarming and attentive service was expected from a hotel of its statue, the unexpected level of comfort and luxury was truly an added bonus. And if you're into medieval furniture and design, you will love the random display of classic decorations here.
