W Taipei Hotel 台北W飯店 (Taipei, TAIWAN)

After a relatively quiet birthday spent in Wulai (烏來) yesterday, I brought the birthday gal back to the hustle and bustle of city life that we called Taipei. The taxi ride took nearly an hour but we made it back to Taipei just before 1pm, which should give us enough time for a decent lunch.

I have heard a lot of good things about W Taipei Hotel since its opening. Some of my friends stay here almost exclusively when they visit Taipei. I figured it should be more than just the location.

W Hotel Group, an upscale lifestyle hotel chain owned by Marriott, has always been on my radar screen thanks to its design-led hotel experience.

The moment we stepped into the premise, we could feel the vibrant energy.

They have certainly set a new standard in luxury hospitality with the W Hotel brand. Timeless chic design bathroom highlighted by the orange colored glass wall.

A unique blend of trendy design, modern comfort and innovative style for an unparalleled lodging experience in Taipei.

They put us on the 22nd floor with a fabulous city view from up high.

After spending the entire afternoon out on the streets, we finally came back late and look what they had waiting for us.....

A surprise birthday cake! That was a very nice gesture by the team.

The cake was melting a bit since it's probably been sitting in the warm temperature of the room for quite some time.

Of course, a stay at W Taipei is not complete without a tour to their outdoor swimming pool.

The pool is surrounded by the neighboring buildings so not much view there and definitely not enough privacy.

But I'm not passing up the chance for my early morning swim session (although I'm under the watchful eyes of those having breakfast inside).
