Yueji Restaurant Wongtee Plaza 粵集 ·手工粤菜 皇庭廣場店 (Shenzhen, CHINA) ★★☆☆☆

We didn't have any plans for dinner tonight nor we were particularly hungry so we ended up grabbing a quick one at Wongtee Plaza (皇庭廣場店) just before hitting the train station.

Yueji Restaurant (粵集 ·手工粤菜) was one of the eight restaurants rumored to have the best Peking duck in Shenzhen but we didn't have time to enjoy a slice of authentic Beijing cuisine tonight.

To make things worse (on top of our tight schedule), the restaurant's Point of Sales system was down. As we were unable to place our order thru their online app, we had to wait for our server to do it for us (with some waiting time as everybody was down and out).

Yueji's signature roasted goose (粵集金獎果木燒鵝) (¥98) – We didn't get the chance to check out their Peking duck so perhaps some roasted goose?

Their roasted goose was supposed to be a signature dish as well and without thinking much, I decided to drop another 10 bucks for the lower quarter of roast goose (燒鵝下庄). This came with some lovely fragrance from the fruit wood but there was a lack of smoky flavors; and I didn't like the fact that the goose was more on the fatty side thus not really a lot of flesh to enjoy.

Yueji's signature fried rice (粵集招牌炒飯) (¥48) – This was actually fairly nice. I didn't know if they've added some goose oil when they were frying the rice but they should. A little more seafood would have been nice but I had no complaints about the texture of the rice there.

We were in a hurry to settle the bill and rush to the train station but with their system down, we had trouble getting the payment done online. The lady working the cashier had no clue how to proceed and kept asking us to wait until they fix their wifi connection. I didn't want any part of that (as it might take hours) so I told her it was time to revert back from the paperless transaction and take my cash. After consulting with her supervisor, she finally agreed that it was the only solution available. That was the end of the saga.
