After a surprisingly amazing lunch at agnel d'or, mom and I took a slow walk towards Utsubo Park (靱公園). On our way to the park, we stopped by Les Petites Papillotes for some sweet treats for tonight.
Les Petites Papillotes is a renowned French chocolatier in Osaka specializing in artisan chocolates, cakes, and seasonal desserts. Opened back in 2012, the shop has become a beloved destination for its high-quality, handmade sweets.
All of the chocolates and pastries are prepared on-site inside this semi-open kitchen.
There’s also a small dine-in area where guests can enjoy their treats on the spot.
Unfortunately, the staff member who served us spoke very little English, so I wasn’t able to get her advice on some of the desserts. The good news was that I’d already done my homework online and knew exactly what to look for — especially since the shop’s house specialties are their rich chocolate mousse cakes and the “Blanche Neige.”
Levant (690 yen) — The shop’s signature chocolate dome cake. Made primarily with a rich chocolate mousse, it’s complemented by a layer of hazelnut praline making it a perfect choice for true chocolate lovers.
A whipped white chocolate and vanilla bean ganache that’s aerated for a light, mousse-like texture, with sweet strawberry sauce trapped in the center. It’s especially loved for its delicate balance of creamy white chocolate and bright, fruity acidity.
After getting our desserts, mom and I parted ways near Utsubo Park. I sent her back to the hotel by a Uber ride while I continued exploring the area around Higobashi (肥後橋).
