Libertable (Tokyo, JAPAN) ★★★★☆

After dinner, my family and I decided to spend some time to get familiarized with the streets of Akasaka. This was when I peeled off to find out more on one of top French patisserie in the area, Libertable (リベルターブル)

Libertable was founded in 2010 by Chef Kazuyori Morita who honed his craft in France including a stint at Astrance. The restaurant was located in Aoyama and used to serve French food until its relocation to Akasaka in 2013 which now focuses solely on French pastries. Chef Morita is best known for his creativity and matching unusual ingredients together for his pastries. I am looking forward to learn more about his sweet creations.

At 8pm, I barely sneaked in before its closing time.

But the bad news was that everything was sold out except these two. In other words, no chance for me to lay my hands on their Zénith, a French tartlet made with apples and foie gras.

Logic – A combination of caramel, sake and pear. The caramel mousse was very delicate which was complemented well by the pear and its acidity. Not bad.

Vert – I got this for mom and not surprisingly, she didn't like it. The different textures of pistachio were fine with her but the addition of fennel created this savory-sweet flavor that was probably too much for her.

There are quite a few interesting pastries offered at Libertable. Hopefully, I get the chance to experience some of them before our departure which is still 9 days away.
