I do believe in second chances. I really do. So despite a lackluster experience at The Hari (at Lucciola Restaurant and Bar) last time around, I decided to give this hotel another chance (because I really like the hip design of this boutique hotel).
But it's going to be a different restaurant in the hotel this time - 族 Zoku Restaurant & Terrace.

Located on the second floor of The Hari, 族 Zoku Restaurant & Terrace offers a refreshing contemporary take on the traditional Japanese cuisine, something that I was really looking forward to.
Interestingly, the modern Japanese restaurant is led by a non-Asian chef de cuisine. Peruvian Chef Edwin Guzman helms the kitchen here after a 4-year stint at Aji MGM Cotai in Macau.
Ten minutes later, here comes my lunch set and it looks absolutely stunning.
Grilled broccolini with some nice charred marks. Not surprisingly, it came with some lovely smoky flavors.
The yakimeshi rice (Japanese pan-fried rice) was very yummy. I always love the texture of Japanese rice. A bit sticky but tender and slightly chewy. They gave the rice some very exciting bites thanks to the diced burdock. And I am a sucker for Japanese burdock.
But this was my main reason for choosing Zoku this afternoon, their miso glazed salmon. I thought the salmon fillet was really nice and flaky while the miso glaze was right on the money. It goes really well with the yakimeshi rice with the sweetness of the salmon balancing out the savory flavors of the fried rice. I was really impressed.
Finally, a pretty decent miso soup to round out the set.
Dessert was a simple strawberry mochi ice-cream with dried raspberry on top.
I'm glad I chose to come back to The Hari rather than going somewhere else. The miso glazed salmon alone is already worth a second visit.
