Ladurée Paris Champs Elysées (Paris, FRANCE) ★★★★☆

After a 3-day hiatus from Champs Elysées, we're back here again for the most important meal of the day, breakfast.

Ladurée Paris Champs Elysées will once again get the nod but there's going to be more than just soft-boiled eggs and bacon this time.

While Jelloman waited in line for our breakfast table, I sneaked away to get a glimpse of Ladurée's exquisite pastries. And there were some new faces which I haven't seen last time around.

We got our table following a 15-minute wait and immediately started putting a lot of food on the table.

Soft-boiled eggs, mousseline brioche, bacon, hollandaise sauce (17 Euros) - I must admit I have a soft spot for soft-boiled eggs especially when they were served with smoky bacon.

It was just perfect having the runny yolk on top of the brioche along with the Hollandaise sauce.

Mont Blanc Agrumes (6.5 Euros) - I had this on a few occasions when I was in Tokyo and I didn't like the combination of chestnut and citrus to begin with but after the slow start, I started to enjoy it more and more.

This had citrus fruit jam, chantilly cream with candied chestnut and meringue, all topped off with chestnut cream and chestnut vermicelli. Like I said, it takes a while to get used to the citrus note in the middle of the chestnut cream but once the flavors settled in, you realized how well they came together with perfect harmony.

Cydonie Coing Vanille (7 Euros) - A beautiful multi-layer cake consisting of an almond shortbread, quince confit and vanilla yogurt mousse.

This was almost like a cheesecake but without the rich cheesiness. Instead, there's a perfect balance of sweet and acidity and the whole thing was so light (and delicate). Very very nice.

After breakfast, this guy's going back to the hotel for a quick nap. Then, we have another highly anticipated lunch coming up at Le Pavillon Ledoyen. It's going to be my first visit since Yannick Alléno took over so plenty to look forward to in this one.
