Menya Takeichi 麵屋武一 (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★★★☆

Another day sees another new Japanese ramen shop opened in Tsim Sha Tsui. Joining the competition this time is Menya Takeichi (麵屋武一), one of the top chicken ramen chains in Tokyo.

Hidden at a quiet corner on Minden Avenue, Menya Takeichi has more than 100 branches worldwide but this is its first foray into Hong Kong, one of the toughest food cities in Asia.

I got in at around 6pm before I met up with my hair stylist. It was still early so not surprisingly, lots of empty seats.

Their Tori Paitan Ramen (with rich creamy chicken soup) has proven to be a great alternative for Tonkotsu ramen and without a doubt, it's going to be my pick tonight.

Super Rich Shoyu Chicken Soup Ramen ($88) - The soup was really sweet and creamy with lots of collagen. Let's hope it's all naturally made with loads of chicken bones and meat.

Even the noodles were done right. Very good bite absorbing the chicken soup beautifully.

This came with two delicious minced chicken balls and two slices of chicken fillet.

The soft-boiled egg wasn't bad either.

I was really impressed with this Tokyo import tonight. I tried looking for flaws all night (broth, noodle, soft-boiled egg etc.) but came up empty.

Be warned about their signature chicken soup folks, because it's really addictive!
