BRIX Dessert Bar at ICONSIAM (Bangkok, THAILAND) ★★★☆☆

BRIX Dessert Bar is a dessert place that has gone highly recommended in a lot of websites in Bangkok (I wonder why. Paid advertisement?). It was originally not on my agenda but interestingly enough, it seemed to pop up in a lot of places we visited including Siam Discovery, Siam Paragon and today at ICONSIAM. Since everyone needed a break after the extensive amount of walking, I decided to squeeze an afternoon tea session at BRIX into our agenda.

Despite being touted as a dessert bar, I thought BRIX qualifies more as a dessert café due to the lack of creative, eye-catching sweets. Other than a collection of Japanese style pancakes, chocolate lava cake and signature BRIX box chocolate which is a buttery brioche served with chocolate ganache, mixed berries and ice-cream, it has nothing else exciting to offer.

One of their best sellers was actually their Taiwanese style Black sugar bubble milk tea! We got ourselves a couple to battle the nasty heat...

They offer a variety of fluffy Japanese style pancakes including the original flavor (they called Signature Miracle Pancake), nutella, mango passion fruit, banana butterscotch and matcha.

BRIX Dessert Bar at ICONSIAM - Dessert Pancake Menu

Signature Miracle Pancake (260 Baht) - Miracle pancake is just a fancy name for their Japanese pancakes which aren't any different from those served at A Happy Pancake, Gram Cafe and Flipper's.

They were pretty soft and airy (like they were supposed to be). I like it simple so some fresh yogurt, strawberries, blueberries and a scoop of vanilla ice-cream already made this pretty delicious.

Brix Box Chocolate (280 Baht) - A cube shaped brioche with a warm gooey chocolate ganache centre, served with mixed berries and vanilla ice-cream. The brioche was buttery and flaky like a croissant and we all knew how a croissant works with runny chocolate ganache. A very naughty dessert that looks pretty good on IG.

It was getting a bit late so time to go our separate ways. While my family heads back to CentralWorld, I have quite a journey ahead of me this evening - a highly anticipated re-union with Chef Vincent Thierry, the opening chef of Caprice who helped to propel the restaurant to its three-Michelin starred status. After leaving Caprice in 2015 (or 2016, I can't recall) for greener pastures in Bangkok, he has now settled in his new job at Lebua Tower. I'm seriously looking forward to this meal; I'm sure if it won't disappoint.
