Tarte by Cheryl Koh (Singapore, SINGAPORE) ★★★★☆

After enjoying a nice variety of Peranakan dishes at Candlenut, we spent a little bit of time walking around Dempsey Hill before taking a cab down to Orchard Road. While most of us headed towards the direction of Takashimaya, I had a slightly different idea.

I missed the chance to check out Tarte by Cheryl Koh during my last visit because I was way too full to take on more dessert following lunch at Les Amis. Since then I heard they have relocated to Level 2 of the same building (that will be Shaw Centre) with a little more space and an expanded menu. The new location now has a dine-in area so we can all sit down and enjoy chef Koh's tart with a sip of coffee.

I have always wanted to give these lovely tarts a go even before chef Koh, who's been Les Amis restaurant’s pastry chef, was awarded "Asia’s Best Pastry Chef" in the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards in 2016.

Earl Grey (SGD$10) - I am a huge fan of Earl grey tea desserts and this was bursting with rich Earl grey flavor.

Very delicate and very tasty. And I just can't say enough about that crust which was so buttery and crisp.

Pandan and coconut (SGD$10) - Pandan curd on a toasted coconut frangipane, which was just a fancy name for the almond flavored cream in the middle.

This was very delicious as well. Love the way the pandan, coconut and almond flavors all worked together in harmony. Another beautiful dessert.

After swallowing up two delectable tarts, it's time to meet up with the gang again and see what our plans are this evening.
