Bottega Louie (Los Angeles, USA) ★★★☆☆

We have a pretty light schedule this afternoon so as soon as we finished our lunch at 71Above, I brought the family out for a quick tour around downtown Los Angeles before ending the tour with our first visit to a pastry shop on this trip.

Located on the corner of South Grand Avenue and 7th Street, Bottega Louie is everything you look for from a trendy cake shop and more.

They have a very nice mix of pastries available at the counter from the traditional fan favorites (mille feuille, lemon tart, éclairs etc.) to some of the more contemporary creations (such as their signature pillow cake with white chocolate mousse, lychee & rose gelée, raspberry crème & a speculoos crust).

Behind the pastry shop and café is their restaurant serving casual Italian food with a bit of American twist.

I started things off with one of their vanilla éclairs, a pretty nice vanilla pâte à choux filled with vanilla diplomat crème and topped with white chocolate vanilla glaze and vanilla bean dust.

I didn't catch the name of this cake but it's a pretty good one filled with white chocolate mousse and raspberry gelée.

Out of all their non-alcoholic drinks, their Italian soda was the most intriguing one. Between all the different flavors (cherry, vanilla, raspberry, mango and strawberry), I wound up with this one flavored with coconut. That was pretty refreshing and I love the cherry top, almost like a traditional milkshake!

From the entrance onward, Bottega Louie looks a lot like the American version of Ladurée, Based on what I've sampled this afternoon, they're indeed as good as advertised.
