Bar Da Gino (Venice, ITALY) ★★☆☆☆

This morning, we decided to hop over Canal Grande to Dorsoduro and get a taste of the real Venice without the San Marco crowd.

We got onto a water bus on Line 1 and after 3 quick stops, arrived at "Salute" Station well ahead of schedule.

So the rumours turned out to be true. While Dorsoduro has its share of great museums, galleries, interesting cafes and restaurants, it only comes with half of the tourists (if not less) comparing to the other side of Canal Grande.

After visiting a couple of museums and galleries, we went for a quick pit stop at Bar Da Gino.

Bar Da Gino is a restaurant, gelateria, coffee shop and cake shop all under the same roof.

Tagliolini Bolognese - Starting things off was something for my little nugget. We had so many Spaghetti Bolognese on this trip already so this was a nice change of pace with a thicker pasta. Pretty good texture there with a nice flavorful sauce. Not bad.

Tagliolini with porcini mushroom - Equally good was the tagliolini with porcini which was served with a cream sauce.

Cannelloni with ricotta and spinach - Finished with a cheese sauce and tomato on top.

Tiramisu - While we enjoyed all three pasta sent our way, the same could not be said for our desserts. The tiramisu was quite disappointing and I thought way overpriced (10 or 12 euro as I remembered).

Triple Chocolate - The three layers of chocolate came with different degree of sweetness as expected. Like the tiramisu, the plating here was just horrible (very messy).

Like last night's dinner at Riva Del Vin, I wasn't expecting much to begin with so I have nothing to rant about other than the grossly overpriced dessert.
