Bills Jamsil (Seoul, SOUTH KOREA) ★★☆☆☆

We initially planned to spend a couple of hours at the Lotte World Mall to walk off our tummies we got from our lunch at S.T.A.Y. but my nugget liked the place so much that we ended up spending the entire afternoon there. Since it's almost dinner time, I thought we should take advantage of the wide selection of eateries in the mall and pick a place that we could all find something we liked. But that was easier to be said than done so we ended up picking a place that was most convenient for us - Bills Jamsil.

Originating from Australia, Bills has always been very good in adapting to the local tastes so I'm not surprised with their success in Japan and Korea at all. But personally, I have never been a big fan because I have never been able to find something I really like from their food menu.

Could this be the game changer tonight? Well, let's find out.....

Bills fried chicken and jalapeno mayo (₩9,000) - Like I said they're very good with adapting to the local market so why not some Korean fried chicken on the menu? This was crispy on the outside but not nearly tender and flavorful enough comparing to some of the best Korean fried chicken. Not a great start.

Soft-shell crab, chorizo and kimchi fried rice with poached egg (₩24,000) - Another Korean inspired dish. I thought the kimchi fried rice worked reasonably well with the bits and pieces of chorizo but deep-fried soft shell crab? I don't know. I guess I'm a little too old-school so this combination simply wasn't working for me.

Pappardelle, duck ragu, truffled umeboshi mushrooms and leaves (₩24,000) - Another dish that was average at best. The pappardelle was actually fairly decent (though slightly overcooked) but the rest of the dish including the duck ragu, mushrooms and rocket leaves looked like something prepared by an amateur cook. For someone like me who's pretty good with cooking pasta, this was not going to cut.

I love the vibe here with a lot of natural daylight making it very warm and inviting but this was the second rough outing in a roll where they completely failed to impress me with their food menu (last time was in Tokyo).
