Brunetti (Melbourne, AUSTRALIA) ★★★☆☆

Like Pidapipò Gelateria, Brunetti is very popular here in Melbourne and their incredible selection of cakes is big part of the reason why.

There has to be at least 30-40 different types of celebration and special occasion cakes sitting left and right inside these fridges.

These are just perfect for our dinner gathering tonight.

They've also got some ice-cream bars, ice-cream sandwiches and cannolis for anyone looking for a smaller bite.

In the middle of the action is a cafe and bar area serving their award winning coffee, pasta and wood-fired pizza but make no mistake about it, I'm here for their sweet stuff.

Dolce Amore (AUD$8) - It (right) reminded me of Ladurée when it first caught my eyes.
Underneath the layer of light red velvet was coconut sponge filled with strawberry confit and strawberry cream. I thought the texture was a bit too soft and one-dimensional; and pretty much the same in terms of flavors. Just a lot of sweetness and that's about all.

Mandarino (AUD$8) - This was a new item that took inspiration from the mandarin which was a little better than the Dolce Amore. At least there's a bit of contrasting flavors and textures coming from the white chocolate mousse, mandarin jelly, madeleine sponge and praline rocher glaze.

What Brunetti lacks in quality, they make up for it with their huge selection of pastries and desserts. If you happen to have a late-night craving for dessert, then this Brunetti location is the place to be as it opens until midnight.
