10 of The Best Cafés and Dessert Spots in Sinsa Seoul (2016)

If you happen to find yourself in Sinsadong looking to satisfy your sweet tooth, then go ahead and pat yourself at the back because you're at the right place at the right time. There are tons of good options in the area so here should one start? Well, here is a list of 10 cafés and dessert spots that are not to be missed in Sinsa-dong (新沙洞).

Remicone
This popular ice-cream shop is an iconic landmark in Garosugil with its "laboratory-in-a-truck" concept being one of a kind in the business. The funky design gives everyone a feeling that they are serving soft ice-cream cones right out of a Remicon truck.

They have only a few ice-cream flavors to offer (milk, salted caramel and chocolate) but what separates them with the rest of the competition is their extensive list of toppings which includes the always-popular cotton thunder. While we were visiting Seoul back in May, they were doing a cross-over with Maybelline mascara and that was a rather unique experience.

If you only have time for one soft ice cream in Seoul, make it count!

Sona
A bright and airy dessert bar on top of Ryunique that serves both modern and classic European desserts. Some of my personal favorites include their house specialty, Oh! Chocolate as well as the colorful Champagne sugar ball featuring a hand crafted sugar ball with champagne foam, edible flowers and cheesecake snow in the middle. Love their "Makes Dessert Better" slogan and they are certainly doing just that.

C27 Cheesecake & Coffee
C27 is quickly becoming one of my favorite dessert spots in Sinsa due to its hipper décor and industrial chic vibe. And if you're not blown away by its décor or vibe, you will be by their 27 different flavors of cheesecakes. For more traditional flavors, you can't go wrong with their blueberry and ricotta New York cheesecakes but if you're more adventurous like we are, then their earl grey, tiramisu and M&M cheesecakes are definite must here.

DORÉ DORÉ
DORÉ DORÉ has moved into a brand new premise in Sinsa this year and it's bigger and better than ever! Span over three stories, the flagship cake shop and tea salon continues to attract dessert lovers with its shocking pink exterior and impressive lineup of pastries including their signature rainbow cake series.

Conversation (Cake by Nina Gudkova)
Opened in 2016, Conversation Seoul is a relatively new addition in trendy Sinsa, which has probably flown under most tourist radars. For anyone looking for authentic American-style cakes in Seoul, this would be a dream come true. Their Favorite Cake and Captain America Cake are as moist and mouthwatering as they get around here, which kind of explains why the place is always packed whenever I visit.

Etalp La Patisserie
An elegant and unpretentious patisserie on the quiet side of Sinsa next to an elementary school playground, Etalp La Patisserie is everything one expects from a modern French pastry shop and more. Their earl grey cake (with crunchy hazelnut) was a good way to start your afternoon and don't leave without trying one of their cheesecakes too. You won't regret making this trip.

Deux Amis Café
Seoul is known to have its fair share of Japanese inspired cafés and cake shops and Deux Amis Café is definitely the best of the bunch. I have long been a fan of their signature matcha cake with red bean paste and just in case you still have some wiggle room after the matcha cake, check out their caramel cake with a hint of sea salt too. That could prove to be the best 6,500won you've ever spent.

Pumpkin Terrier
Sitting right next door to C27 Cheesecake and Coffee is another famous cake shop in Sinsa, Pumpkin Terrier, who is pretty well known for its layered cakes. Signature desserts including their super rich banana nutella cake and fluffy banana pudding have been a crowd pleaser since they opened back in 2014 and the best of all is the fact that they have got one of the best roasted coffee in town to match (It's the fragrant and full-bodied Butter Fat Trio Blend from Seoul-based Anthracite Coffee Roasters).

C-Four Cake Boutique
Despite its slightly old-school décor, C-Four Cake Boutique continues to be a fan favorite year after year. My personal favorites are their cream cheese strawberry tart and custard crepe cake. They are the best in the business and are guaranteed to keep coming back for more.

Address: 529-4 Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Amorino
Paris's favorite gelato shop has finally arrived in Seoul and they're bringing their famous flower-shaped gelato, ice-cream crepes and waffles with them. Be warned about this place coz their gelato and crepes are both highly addictive!
