麺屋ごとう (Tokyo, JAPAN) ★★★☆☆

I already got today's itinerary all planned out before we took off to Tokyo. First, we will spend the morning at Rikugien (六義園) to check out the autumn leaves and after grabbing a quick bite, we will head east to visit Asakusa (浅草) and the SkyTree tower.

Rikugien (六義園) is considered one of the best places in Tokyo to admire autumn leaves within the city. It's about a 5-minute walk from Komagome (駒込) station and you definitely won't miss it because all the signs will point you to the right direction.

It's almost middle of November so I was naturally expecting a great deal of autumn leaves and fall colors but everything was still very much green, NO!

Perhaps a bowl of delicious ramen could help to wash my frustration away.

麺屋ごとう is one of the most popular ramen shops in the area and judging from the small lineup waiting in front of the basement shop just before noon time, I know something good is waiting to happen (to my tummy).

They have this super rich version of shoyu ramen (soy sauce) which the broth is served on the side. It's one of the popular items from their food menu.

Little by little, I dipped the homemade noodles into the broth. The flavors were a bit strong but not bad.

Personally, I prefer their "original" shoyu ramen with pretty much the same supporting cast of barbecue pork, egg and bamboo shoot. The only difference was a lighter and less flavorful broth which served me just fine.

This is one of the few places that opens at around 11am daily, making it the perfect spot for those who want a quick bite after visiting Rikugien in early morning.
