Battery Park (Seoul, SOUTH KOREA) ★★★☆☆

As the name of the restaurant has already given it away, this is an American eatery. (Battery Park, the famous park in Manhattan Island, New York City?)

Located in the basement of the State Tower Namsan, Battery Park is one of the few western restaurants in Myeongdong that serves hearty American fare with a Korean twist. The same building also houses a very good modern French bistro, which I happen to like a lot in Bover Lounge.

Oh, I love that Industrial feel.

When I think about American food, tasty burgers immediately come to mind. They have three burger sets (13,000 won) here and their mushroom burger set was the one I've chosen this afternoon.

I love the fact that they chose to use those big juicy portobello mushrooms for this burger. Absolutely delicious and the special mushroom mayo or purée provided another interesting kick to the mix.

They have a pretty extensive list of pasta on the food menu. For those feeling a little more adventurous, dishes like chilli pork intestine rigatoni and grilled samgyeop lasagna would be the perfect choice. There are also options which are a little more down to earth like vongole spaghetti, carbonara, and tomato ricotta cheese spaghetti.

We eventually went with this black sesame cream spaghetti (14,000 won) served with half a dozen fresh prawns. The creamy black sesame sauce was very addictive and what a nice complement it was for the al dente spaghetti!

Here's a copy of their current menu for your sneak peek.
