Fine Foods (Hong Kong, CHINA) ★★☆☆☆

I was back here at Fine Foods in less than 24 hours and my mission, to get some sweet treats for tonight's dinner. Pretty much like yesterday, I found that there's not really a whole lot to choose from. Perhaps the pastry chefs are too busy preparing the festive cakes?

Raspberry white chocolate mousse cake ($42) - Not the first time we laid hands on this one and it's borderline good. The white chocolate mousse was delicate and not overly sweet while the raspberry provided just enough acidity. Texture-wise, something seemed to be missing (some contrast in texture would be welcome.).

Forest berries mousse cake ($42) - We decided to dip into the festive cakes and here's the first Christmas creation. Sadly, this was very plain. Other than the expected berry flavored mousse, nothing really stood out. Very disappointing.

Dark chocolate mousse cake ($42) - Slightly better than the previous forest berries mousse cake but not really deserving a passing grade. They've added something crunchy in the middle to make it a little more interesting but I expected a lot more out of this kitchen.

Having sampled a total of 5 different cakes in less than 24 hours, I found myself not impressed at all, with Fine Foods' latest effort. This place is seriously trending down.
