Grangerie by CôteD'or (Seoul, SOUTH KOREA) ★☆☆☆☆

If you're looking for a western style cake shop or dessert spot in Myeongdong, you will be disappointed with the number of choices available for you. We stumbled upon Grangerie by CôteD'or by chance and I have to say, this is one of the worst cake shops that we've been associated with in Seoul for a long time.

Located near the edge of Myeongdong, Grangerie is a luxury cake shop (ground floor) that also doubles as a café (1st floor).

It's been well documented that the carnation cake is one of their signature products and it comes in 2 colors (white and pink) and 2 different sizes (big - 42,000 and miniature - 8,000). But upon our closer look, this is really nothing more than an ordinary cheesecake (very bland one) with the "flower petals" made with white chocolate.

Very disappointed with this. It's definitely something that is not nearly good enough at the professional level.

  1. I am sorry to hear that. Myeongdong is a dessert waste land, but if you have a chance to be there next time, try Lotte Department stiore's basement food court, where there is Hugo & Victor (https://search.naver.com/search.naver?sm=tab_hty.top&where=post&oquery=Hugo+%26+Victor+%EC%8A%88&ie=utf8&query=Hugo+%26+Victor+%EB%94%B8%EA%B8%B0+%EC%8A%88) from Paris. Not exactly the best in the world, but decent enough. My favorite is Choux Fraise. :)
