10 of The Best Cafés and Dessert Spots in Sinsa Seoul (2015)

A trip to Seoul is not complete without visiting at least one café or dessert spot in Sinsadong but there are tons of good ones out there. Where should we start? Well, here is a list of the best cafés and dessert spots that are not to be missed in Sinsa-dong (新沙洞).

Remicone
The legendary ice-cream shop is an iconic figure in Garosugil with its "laboratory-in-a-truck" concept being one of a kind in the business. The funky design gives everyone a feeling that they are serving soft ice-cream cones right out of a Remicon truck.

They have only a few ice-cream flavors to offer (milk, salted caramel and chocolate) but what separates them with the rest of the competition is their extensive list of toppings which includes the always-popular cotton thunder. While we were visiting Seoul back in May, they were doing a cross-over with Maybelline mascara and that was a rather unique experience.

If you only have time for one soft ice cream in Seoul, make it count!

Boulangerie Le Alaska
Le Alaska is a bakery shop with more than 40 different types of French bread and pastries to choose from but their secret weapon has always been the small café inside where one can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with their favorite pastry on a Saturday afternoon.

Be warned coz a huge lineup is always expected.

Address: 550-22 Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, South Korea

Dish Room by Doré Doré
Doré Doré used to be one of my go-to cafés in the area in the past although I've recently shifted to their "Common Ground" location. This is not only a place for coffees and cakes as they also offer quite a wide range of comfort food including salad and pies. It's the place to be if you want to eat healthy around here.

Etalp La Patisserie
An elegant and unpretentious patisserie in the quiet side of Sinsa next to an elementary school playground, Etalp La Patisserie is everything one would hope for from a modern French pastry shop and more. Their earl grey cake (with crunchy hazelnut) was a good way to start your afternoon and don't leave without trying one of their cheesecakes too. You won't regret making this trip.

Deux Amis Café
This small café in the heart of Sinsadong earned its reputation from its Japanese influenced pastries and refreshments. Their signature matcha cake with red bean paste is a definite must-try here and just in case you still have some wiggle room in your belly, try their caramel cake which comes with a lovely hint of sea salt.

Salon de Mon Chou Chou
Imported straight from Japan, this famous tea salon and cake shop is a major hit in the heart of Garosugil especially among the ladies. Apart from their signature Dojima Roll with chantilly cream from Hokkaido, they also serve an afternoon tea set that is as sinful as it gets. Al fresno seats are available in the summer so check them out for a break after an intensive day of shopping in the area.

La Patisserie Hotel Douce (오뗄두스)
How can we have a top 10 list without a classic French dessert spot? Located just across the street from Remicone, this tiny café dedicates the entire space to some of the greatest French classics such as mille feuille, eclair, macarons among others. They don't have the most comfortable seats for a dessert place but sitting there certainly gives you a feeling that you're traveling somewhere in Europe. Definitely one of my recent favorites.

La Pomme, Patisserie de BE SWEET ON
Like Deux Amis Café, La Pomme is a small cake shop dedicated to Japanese inspired desserts. Despite its small footprint, it also offers a little bar area for in-house dining which is perfect for a quick bite to fix your sweet tooth.

Address: 534-8 Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Sona (소나)
A bright and airy dessert café on top of Ryunique that serves both modern and classic European desserts. Some of the quick hits include their vachrine cake and "frozen goat cheese". Love their "Makes Dessert Better" slogan and they are certainly doing just that.

Address: 520-1 Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea
Tel: +82 2-515-3246

Banana Tree
A hidden gem on the edge of Sinsadong that has earned their shot to fame after being featured in the famous local TV show "Tasty Road". If you're into small coffee shops with a rustic vibe, then this is definitely your cup of tea.

The bread and butter here includes their flower pot dessert that comes with 3 different flavors (strawberry, banana and coffee) as well as their cotton candy latte.
