Gregorys Coffee (New York, USA) ★★★☆☆

We have an important mission to accomplish on our last day here in the Big Apple - to dip into the recent cronut-mania that has taken New York by storm.

Unfortunately we didn't have two hours to spare on this day, so waiting at the Dominique Ansel Bakery where the cronut originated seemed a bit out of the question. In desperate need for an alternative, we found the perfect fit at Gregorys Coffee near our hotel at Time Square. This is not the original cronut but it's very close, perhaps a distant cousin! They called it the "cro-dough".

As first timers, we were excited to finally get our hands on one of these cro-doughs. It certainly has the combination of croissant's texture and doughnut's rich flavor. The icing on top seemed to tie everything together nicely. $4 is a little steep for a donut but it's definitely worth the try.

We will be having an early lunch at the 3-star Jean Georges at Central Park in approximately 2 hours. Really look forward to having a wonderful time there. More on that later!
