aA Design Museum Café (Seoul, SOUTH KOREA) ★★★★★

The aA Design Museum Café came highly recommended by a close friend of ours who was a frequent flyer to Seoul. So after hours of shopping and a lengthy visit to the nearby Tricky Eye Museum, we decided to pay this café a much-anticipated visit.

The Hongdae neighborhood never failed to disappoint. The urban art galleries, designer boutiques and hip cafés were just a few reasons why it was one of the most lively communities in Seoul. Of course, it didn't hurt to have Hongik University in the proximity.

The aA Design Museum combines a 2-storey of designer furniture showroom with a tastefully designed coffee shop. Through the rusty 19th century French door we went and there it was a modernly decorated cafe in a warehouse-like setting. Despite the raw ambiance, there was an element of coziness there that made us feel right at home.

On a chilly afternoon like this, what a better way to start things off than a hot hazelnut chocolate. This one did not have the bitterness one would find from a typical hot chocolate. On the other hand, it was delicately sweet.

The green tea latte was thirst quenching in every possible way. Just wished the glass would be a bit taller!

This Banana Toffee Pancake was not the most crafty dessert you would find in Seoul but it was very good. Two scoops of vanilla ice-cream placed on a bed of banana and green-tea flavored pancakes and served with banana slices and toffee cream.

For anyone with a sweet tooth like me, this was heaven!

What a great place to chill out and enjoy a cup of coffee. The atmosphere was cozy and the service was friendly. I will definitely come back some other time.
